Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA) is the smart new alternative to TPLO surgery for cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) injuries in the stifle of a dog. Compared with TPLO, TTA is less invasive, easier to perform, and results in accelerated recovery periods with early return to weight-bearing activities.
Rupture of the cranial cruciate ligament in the stifle of the dog is probably the most common cause of hind limb lameness seen in the general practice setting.
- TTA is less invasive and simpler to perform than TPLO
- TTA can be performed in 45 minutes vs. 1½ hours for TPLO
- TTA recovery time is much shorter with early return of ROM and weight bearing activities compared to TPLO
